After college, I landed my first paying gig, playing solo acoustic sets between acts at jam band festivals.
It was a little humiliating at times being the filler act but it put me in contact with all kinds of new music and great musicians.
And though I kept performing and recording my own music, I started giving lessons to local kids.
I didn t just make them learn songs.
Throughout my college years, I spent hours playing, practicing, charting, learning from other musicians, and perfecting my craft.
Then I Discovered The Secret After I got married, I decided I would need something a little more consistent in the way of income.
I wanted to be creative; to be able to write my own music, play by myself or with a band, book shows, play multiple instruments, and play them in creative and interesting ways.
I got jobs traveling across the country with bands first as a roadie then working my way slowly up the ladder to become a light and sound technician.
I taught my students in the way that I had wanted to learn as a child.
