While I was playing they would change the stage over for the next act.

I didn t just make them keep coming every week so I could collect my checks.

So I set out to teach myself the ins and outs of music.

All the while I was studying and learning.

So, I decided to create videos of my lessons so I could help a larger group of people learn guitar.

Because of my students' success it didn't take long for me to have more students than I could deal with.

I taught them what they needed to know to teach themselves.

After college, I landed my first paying gig, playing solo acoustic sets between acts at jam band festivals.

It was a little humiliating at times being the filler act but it put me in contact with all kinds of new music and great musicians.

And though I kept performing and recording my own music, I started giving lessons to local kids.

I didn t just make them learn songs.

Throughout my college years, I spent hours playing, practicing, charting, learning from other musicians, and perfecting my craft.

Then I Discovered The Secret After I got married, I decided I would need something a little more consistent in the way of income.

I wanted to be creative; to be able to write my own music, play by myself or with a band, book shows, play multiple instruments, and play them in creative and interesting ways.

I got jobs traveling across the country with bands first as a roadie then working my way slowly up the ladder to become a light and sound technician.

I taught my students in the way that I had wanted to learn as a child.
